Feeling a lack of confidence working with those with eating disorders because of little to no training and lack of knowledge in what eating disorder treatment entails? Your search can stop here.
Treating eating disorders (ED) can be one of the most rewarding jobs as a dietitian or non-dietitian alike (therapists, medical doctors, nurses and more!). Treating EDs also comes with loads of responsibility, needed skills, courage, thick skin, and ability to have high resiliency. Lack of training and knowledge can lead to much harm to your prospective clients as we know the severity and inherent lethality of an ED is undisputed. And let’s make sure to mention clinician burnout due to working inefficiently, spinning your wheels, and working harder than your client.
I’ve worked as a clinical dietitian in intensive care, bariatrics, consulting, contract work, food service and have spent the last 15 years working with those with EDS. I’ve worked as high as the PHP level of care and ran a group practice of over 10 years. I have specialized training in CBT, FBT, ACT, EFFT, RO-DBT and IFS. I found a huge passion in training others in the EDs field. In particular I ran a residency program to train newbie dietitians entering the field of dietetics but wanting to specialize in EDs off the bat. I’m now offering this intensive knowledge building and training through the WCNT Membership Page.
